New doorbell: The doorbell came with two ringers. One battery operated (shown here) and another which plugs into the wall. Having seen Nick’s doorbell project, I knew what I had to do. Open it up and put it on the internet.

Parts: LED, piezo buzzer and the cute little circuit board which recieves the radio signal from the remote doorbell button and goes “ding dong”.

Repurposed: This board now takes its 3 volts from the Arduino...

Repurposed: This board now takes its 3 volts from the Arduino instead of 2 AA batteries. It still receives the signal from the remote doorbell button, but now sends a message down the USB cable instead of going “ding dong”. The other chime unit still does that though.
